This is a quest to make all the slides featured in the Whittlin Jim's "Slide of the Month" in Boy's Life magazine. (Hopefully without doing lasting damage to my hands or fingers.) Blogging my progress along the way. I completed my task in March of 2017 and now post my own designs along with some other "Slide of the Month" contributors.

Black Walnut
Some time between 2012 and 2015
Time to make: 1 hours
Finishing: 2 hour
The squirrels around my house find black walnuts somewhere around here (I've never been able to find it) and bury them in my yard. So when I saw this pattern, it was as easy as picking one off the ground in my back yard in the spring. The nut had been chewed on but I didn't need the whole thing just slice out of the middle. A quick cut with the band saw, sanding it with fine sandpaper, then drilling a couple of holes into the back for a coat hanger loop super glued in place. I gave it a couple of coats of poly and was amazed at the natural beauty of the slide.
