Brutally hot then suddenly wearing a fall coat, yup it's September. Barn owls are out seeking small rodents as they are trying to fatten up for winter and this owl is trying to hide.
Now I'm not sure where I saw this picture but I tried to carve it from memory. Carved from maple this was interesting to carve the smooth head and shoulders as opposed to the feathers. Painted with hobby paints and sealed with a couple of coats of poly.
