Slide of the Month - Popsicle

October 2019

Time to make: 1 hours

Boys Life "Slide of the Month"

May 1979, page 70

Original design: Wayne Mason

Memory's of Summer, warm temps, kids playing, and the sound of the Ice Cream truck. Sigh...now on to Fall.

Maybe one of the easiest slide I've ever made! I cut the body of the Popsicle using a saw and sanded it smooth. I then cut a slot in the bottom of the body to accepted a real Popsicle stick which was glued in place. I painted the slide to look like a chocolate covered ice cream (Revello Bars) and finished it off with a couple of coats of poly.

  1. This one looks pretty cool and simple to do. Whenever I step down from Cubmaster and have more time I will start working on some of these you have posted. What did you use for the back?

    1. This has a wooden loop glued to the back. I make a bunch of then and keep them stored in a ziplock bag till I need one. Typically I get a pre cut 2 or 3 foot piece of poplar about 1/2 inch thick from home depot I cut them up into little u shaped loops. I'm on a campout with the Scouts right now but I will give the dimensions and a photo when I get home
